Penalties Of A DUI In Arizona

Depending on the specific circumstances of your arrest, you could face a variety of consequences if you are convicted. It’s important to note that you can be charged with a DUI even if your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is below the legal limit of .08 if you show signs of impairment. 

• A first-time DUI in Arizona carries penalties that could include lost driving privileges, mandatory alcohol and drug screening/education/treatment, license suspension for 90 days or more, between 1 and 6 months in jail, fines and surcharges totaling of $2,500 or more, a mandatory ignition interlock device installed at your own expense, mandatory community service, and more. 

• An extreme first-time DUI offense (with a BAC of 0.15 or higher) carries penalties of at least 30 days in jail or more with no eligibility for probation, a fine of $2,500 or more, as well as the rest of the penalties for a normal DUI. 

• An aggravated DUI, which is a second or third offense within 84 months, while on a suspended or revoked license, or while a person under 15 is in the vehicle carries penalties of jail time for up to two years and license revoked for a full year, as well as the rest of the penalties for a normal DUI.
